Timeline

1936 - Dr. L.C. Jackson opened a medical office above Kuhn’s Varity Store on Main Street in Dickson, Tennessee

1940 - Dr. L.C. Jackson opened Jackson Clinic, located in the building on Main Street next to the Methodist Church.

1945 - Dr. William Jackson joined his brother in the practice of medicine at Jackson Clinic.

1946 - Dr. James T. Jackson joined his brothers at the clinic, after serving in World War II.

1958 - The three Doctors Jackson built Goodlark Hospital/Jackson Clinic on Highway 70 East in Dickson, with 56 beds.

In the years since Dr. J.T. Jackson has been Administrator, Goodlark Hospital has expanded to a 176-bed facility and Jackson Clinic has expanded from a three-man primary care facility to a forty-man multi-specialty group.

1984 - Goodlark Hospital was the first small hospital in the State of Tennessee to have in-house CT scanning capability.

1985 - Goodlark was the first small hospital in Tennessee to open a cardiac catheterization lab.

1987 - The Goodlark Educational Foundation was established for underprivileged students.

1989 - Goodlark opened a 24 bed Adolescent A&D Unit.

History of Jackson Clinic/Goodlark Medical Center

January 1, 1940 - Jackson Clinic Opened

1 – Dental Suite
1 – Optometry Suite

1945 - Dr. William Jackson joined Jackson Clinic

1946 - Dr. Jimmy Jackson joined Jackson Clinic

1947 - 12 beds were added. Later the bed capacity was raised to 25 beds, including a surgery suite and an OB Suite.

April 8, 1958 - They moved from Jackson Clinic to Goodlark Hospital, a 58-bed hospital.

Personnel in 1958 included:

  • 22 Nurses
  • 3 Office Personnel
  • 4 Kitchen Personnel
  • 4 Housekeeping Personnel

1967 - The Upper Pavilion was opened with 59 beds

1974 - The Lower Pavilion was opened with 55 beds

1975 - New doctors offices were built

1975 - New business offices built

1981 - The North Pavilion was opened with 32 beds

1987 - Cheatham Medical Center opened

1989 - Alcohol/Drug Center opened
